Ancient Civilization and Ecology in Peru: The Nazca Lines, Colca Canyon, and Lake Titicaca
A travel course led by Dr. Ed Barnhart for the students of Dr. Margaret Wade at Midland College, Midland, Texas.

This nine day course and lecture series will bring participants from sea level to 12,500 feet ASL in Peru. Starting in the coastal deserts, the course will visit Paracas National Park and fly over the famous Nazca Lines. Next it's up into the Andes and the the beautiful colonial city of Arequipa. After a day to adjust to the altitude, a trip through indigenous villages will arrive at Colca Canyon, South America's "Grand Canyon", where the group will watch condors soar in the canyon's thermals. The course will end in Puno along the shores of Lake Titicaca and a visit the Uros people, a unique indigneous community who live on floating islands made entirely of totora reeds.
