MINI TREX - ANCIENT PYRAMIDS AND THE DAY OF THE DEAD IN THE VALLEY OF MEXICO
During the Day of Dead the Valley of Mexico comes alive with Aztec traditions. The festivities take place everywhere, from Halloween through All Saints Day, with parades, magnificent floral carpets in the streets and evening spectaculars. This MEC Mini Trex will travel around the Valley, enjoying the colorful events while visiting two of the world’s largest three pyramids at Teotihuacan and Cholula. Your guide Dr. Heather Teague will weave the past and the present into an understanding of how ancient traditions are still alive and well. In Mexico City, Cholula and San Andres Mixquic you’ll see those traditions in their fullest expressions. On the morning of Day of the Dead itself the group will travel to San Andres Mixquic to visit their colorful cemeteries and admire the altars in front of local homes. That afternoon will be spent floating through Xochimilco gardens, covered in decorative skulls and floral arrangements. This short adventure will be just four nights, perfect for travelers who need a short trip to fit into their busy lives.
The guide for this tour will be Anthropologist Dr. Heather Teague
